FAQ: Working with Rory Everitt Design

“Elevate Your Everyday”

Here are answers to common questions we get asked about working with Rory Everitt Design.

1. What makes you unique?

Rory is an uncommon interior designer and Rory Everitt Design is an award-winning design firm. We have many satisfied customers, who appreciate our level of elevated design quality and high-end service.

Rory’s background in engineering and software design adds unique layer of expertise, allowing him to create spaces that are not only visually appealing but also highly functional and user-centric. Rory’s collaborative and client-centered approach ensures that every client feels heard and understood throughout the project. His work is deeply influenced by his life experiences, from his love of nature and the outdoors to his background in music and storytelling. Rory’s designs often feature natural elements, fine art, and personal collections, bringing a sense of individuality to each space.

2. What types of projects do you work on?

There are 3 primary design project types Rory Everitt Design can help with:

  • Redecorating. Refresh your space without needing a general contractor. Always involves shopping for furnishings and decor; can also involve changing flooring material, paint color, millwork, window treatments, and lighting fixtures.

  • Remodeling. Refresh your existing space using a general contractor. Usually involves stripping the room(s) down to the studs, to reconfigure the building’s space definition and internal systems like plumbing and HVAC. If you’re working with an architect, we offer creative layout and architectural ideas, and collaborate with you on selecting all surface materials, colors, finishes, cabinetry, counters, and fixtures. After the contractors leave, we handle installing lighting, window treatments, furnishing, artwork, and decor. For smaller projects, we can draft construction documents and permit sets.

  • New construction. Build something completely new using an architect and general contractor. A stool can’t stand on only two legs - achieve a distinctive, solid, and super polished result by adding a designer as the third leg of the project team. Scope is similar to remodeling projects, but with more legwork up front. In particular, we help you define a very detailed contract with your general contractor, to make smart use of your budget and avoid costly change orders down the road.

3. Do you also handle renovations?

Yes. Rory Everitt Design often collaborates with architects and contractors to ensure that everything - from floor plans to finishing touches - flows seamlessly and reflects the holistic design vision. For any work requiring permits, you will need to hire a general contractor. We have a few we love to work with and highly recommend.

4. Do you work with residential and commercial spaces?

Our primary focus is on creating extraordinary homes, well-loved by their owners. We also take on select commercial projects in the hospitality industry. If your space requires a refined and thoughtful touch, we’ll be glad to discuss it with you.

5. What geographic areas do you serve?

Rory Everitt Design calls Eugene, Oregon, home and so our current client base is primarily in the lower Willamette Valley: Eugene, Springfield, Creswell, Cottage Grove, Pleasant Hill, Coburg, McKenzie River Valley, Veneta, Junction City, and Corvallis. We are happy to take on projects of any size within a 1 hour drive of Eugene.

We are also happy to serve clients throughout both Oregon and Washington states, with a modest project minimum to support the additional travel overhead. We support interior design projects in cities such as Coos Bay, Florence, Newport, Lincoln City, Pacific City, Cannon Beach, Ashland, Medford, Grants Pass, Roseburg, Salem, Beaverton, Lake Oswego, Portland, Ben, Vancouver, Olympia, and Seattle.

Our firm values the strong collaboration and deep attention to detail that can only be achieved with regular face-to-face meetings at the project site. That said, we use the latest communication tools and technology, which makes it easy to support clients who only occasionally travel to their project site.

6. Can you work with furniture or art I already own?

Absolutely. A well-loved piece often tells a story and brings some much-needed soul to a room. We enjoy weaving your existing collections and items into a refreshed design, creating a harmonious blend of old and new that is distinctly you.

7. How much does it cost to hire Rory Everitt Design?

We offer multiple levels of project support, at a variety of price points. Check out our services and pricing page.

8. How long does a typical project take?

Timelines vary with scope, size, and complexity. A redecorating job for a single room may be completed in a few weeks, while a whole-home new build can take several years. At the start, we’ll provide a project roadmap so you always know what’s ahead.

9. How involved will I be in the process?

At Rory Everitt Design, we prefer to work collaboratively with every client. Your desires, aesthetic style, and daily functional needs is always at the heart of every design. Some clients love to be hands-on, while others prefer to step back and let us manage the details. Either way, the process is collaborative, transparent, and tailored to your comfort level.
